We are a non-profit organization that provides support to all patients with Jacobsen Syndrome and other orphaned or rare syndromes, throughout Latin American countries, with five approaches: legal advice, biopsychosocial support to affected patients and families, research, information exchange and therapeutic work with patients and families. Syndrome
Jacobsen syndrome is a disease of contiguous genes with multiple congenital anomalies / mental retardation (MCA / MR) caused by a partial deletion of the long arm of chromosome 11. More than 200 cases have been described so far. A prevalence of 1 / 100,000 births is estimated, with a female / male ratio of 2: 1.
Characteristics
In most affected individuals, the chromosome has broken at the level of the bands called 11q23 or 11q24
